The History of Roulette
Roulette is one of the most popular casino games of all time, but have you ever wondered how it developed?
Games involving wheels, such as Roly Poly and E.O., have been played in Britain for some time. However, it was in eighteenth-century France when roulette first emerged, initially as a combination of the aforementioned wheel games with local French board games.
As the decades passed, the game grew in popularity. New variations on the early wheels came and went, and slowly but surely, roulette evolved into the form which we know today. Its form solidified in the mid-nineteenth century, when its popularity carried it throughout Europe and into the New World, cementing its position as one of the top casino games – a position in which it remains to this very day.
